El Dorado County Voter Information Guide
Election Day is November 3rd!
Voting has changed so this is just a quick guide to keep everyone up to speed! Below we break down the voting types, important dates and how to find a voting center close to you.
You have 3 options for voting this year.
1. Vote by Mail
2. Drop Box
3. Vote Center
1. Vote by Mail
To accommodate for the added workload on the mail system, mail in ballots will be sent out a week in advance in El Dorado County. You can mail in you vote as soon as you receive it. The short video below explains the mail in voting process and security in place. If you mail in your vote, BE SURE TO SIGN YOUR ENVELOPE!
Returning Your Vote by Mail Ballot
Vote by Mail Ballots may be returned as follows:
By mail to the Registrar of Voters' office at any time, providing your voted ballot is stamped at the post office no later than 8:00 pm on Election Day, and received in the Registrar's office no later than the Friday after Election Day.
To the Registrar of Voters' office at any time, providing your voted ballot is received no later than 8:00 pm on Election Day.

2. Drop Box Vote
You can drop your vote at any drop box location as soon as you receive your ballot. No postage is necessary, just drop it off.
3. Voter Center
You can go to any Vote Center in the county to vote in person. Vote Centers will be open for multiple days in a row leading up to Election Day. At every Vote Center you can:
- Vote
- Register and vote the same day

- Vote with an accessible voting machine
- Get help and voting materials in multiple languages
The California Voter’s Choice Act became law in 2016 to make voting more convenient and accessible.
